Bought a 50mm F1.7 with fungus and decided to clean it myself. Manage to disassemble the lens and clean the fungus. But the aperture blades are sticky. The spring seems OK and even the aperture blade doesn't feel sticky when I actuate it with my finger. Hope to hear from gurus here how to rectify this problem. Should apply some oil

I already put the lens back and it's working fine, except the aperture blades.
Still sticky .

you should have seen a lens manufacturing line....how well they are protected from dust and finger prints. gloves and mask are compulsory. Wonder why?? ![]() |

Seriously dynaxattack is right... did u use gloves? U need to clean the blades with cleaning solution (maybe lens solution will do) to remove all the gunk from your fingers... if that was done I think may be the mechanism rather than the blades... maybe it's time to visit the hospital... |

I bought lens cheap so don't mind experimenting on it. I use lens cleaning liquid and soft cloth used for cleaning spectackle to clean it. Yes there specs of dust inside the lens, I can't do anything about it - no cleanroom in my house
. Will Post pictures taken wide open later. The apeture blade assy is not easy to dismantle, not going to do that, Worst case will just use the lens wide open for low light and reverse macro

Sulhan you did that yourself, wow you're real guru man.
The aperture blade is confirm sticky. I use pen to turn it open, it cannot close back. But when I remove the top plate the spring action is very smooth. It always return perfectly. When I turn the aperture without the top plate, it doesn't feel sticky neither Should I change the spring to a shorter / stiffer one ?
