Which battery indicator ? The S2 has 2 battery sources and thus 2 indicators. What battery did u use??

...and the S2 always show low-power after a bit, when you can probably shoot another 100-200 more shots. Its just a matter of getting used to that particular idiosyncracy of the camera.

What you may want to do is to test it out with a full-charged/new set. And see how many shots you get out from the set of batts. Then use that to estimate ... whenever you change batteries, and you shoot up to 75% of that number of shots, time of have another set on standby.

Oh yeah, viewing your shots on the LCD consumes power too.

Try loading the CR123 batteries in . I remember my S2 Pro acted strange too when my CR123 batt froze last time

i shot more than 400+fotos(and counting) wth a brand new set of CR123. my rechargeable AA are the ones that can't keep up!
i would recommend shooting with CR123 and AA batteries on the S2Pro.

Which converter did u use for the raw ? Could you post some pics ?
I personally don't have any issues with noise using raw ...

Hi,

I did a test shot using S2, ISO1600 both JPG and RAW.
For JPG, 2 shots were used :
1) Tone - STD, Color - STD, Sharpen - STD (STD)
2) Tone - ORIG, Color - ORIG, Sharpen - OFF (ORIG)

For the RAW shot, converted usign Fuji RAW converter with 2 settings
1) STD, similiar to JPG[1]
2) ORIG, similiar to JPG [2]

Cropped to 100%, no additional sharpening or adjustment.

Full-size image is at : http://www.photoviki.com/albums/user...2_1600_RAW.jpg

After noise removal and sharpening on the PC : http://www.photoviki.com/albums/user...600_RAW_nn.jpg

RAW captures more details, even the noise of the CCD is a form of 'detail' JPEG in camera 'smudges' the details to make it 'noise-free' or 'low-noise' or whatever marketing department wants to call it, making the JPEGs look better. The RAW processor, whichever software you use, will return you the noise. That's to keep as much info as possible in the picture. Strong noise reduction software like Genuine Fractals or NeatImage will remove noise without losing too much details, something the RAW processor can't do too well. It is quite natural to have JPEGs from RAW having more noise from in-camera JPEGs.

Learn and experiment with the power of RAW and you'll find that it is more rewarding (yet more work and time spent). But I must say, I shoot mostly JPEGs on my S2pro because the Fuji S2/S3 JPEGs are the nicest JPEGs from camera of any DSLR (those who have other opinions, I respect your opinion, so please respect mine).

Hi Kajun,

Correct me if I am wrong. As for my case, when either one set of the battery is flat, I cannot trigger the shutter. Need to replace the battery immediately.
But according to what u said, the shutter can still be triggered.

Quite strange, would appreciate you enlighten more. Thanks

ya..i think is jpeg format is the result after s2 processing,so it already reduce the noise(loss some detail) from the picture... the raw format i see on pc is a original data.... so i feel it more noise....???? so sorry eawtan..i forget to pose some picture to let u compare... ok...tomorrow...

You should be looking at : http://www.photoviki.com/albums/user...2_1600_RAW.jpg. This has 4 pic, the top row is using RAW, bottom row is JPG (as indicated by the comments on the left). I used 2 different settings when shooting JPG (ORIG & STD), and the similar 2 settings when doing the raw conversion (as shown on the top comments).

What is shown at : http://www.photoviki.com/albums/user...600_RAW_nn.jpg, is exactly the same pic as the first 4 pics, except I did noise removal on the PC, with some additional sharpening after that. This is to show how the RAW vs JPG will look like after a little bit of post-processing.

I don't think the S2 does any noise-removal in-camera ...

I will leave it up to you guys to draw your own conclusions ....
