Default mamiya 645

I'm going to be gettings my hands on a mamiya 645 for a week, on loan from someone i know.. am very excited about it.

As I know next to nothing about medium format, what would some of you veterans advise? I have no idea how much/where/what brand of film to get, nor about where/how much to get it developed.

And any other pointers you have.. I want to make the most out of this baby which I will have only for 7 days.

I own a M645 Pro kit... but haven't used it much yet.

Some suggestions:
1) Try both colour and B&W - both are wonderful in MF.
2) Remember to lock the shutter on *both* the body as well as the powergrip when you aren't using it.
3) I understand that ColourLab @ Adelphi is a favourite for developing and printing MF. They charge a lot for scanning though - on a per frame basis, which probably gives you higher quality results. Kim Tian scans MF for cheaper, though quality might also not be as wonderful. Good enough for everyday shots.

That's all I can think of for now. It's a great camera. Have fun

Yes, I believe they do MF development - though their charges are quite on the steep side.

If you shoot slide, you can use 120 Kodak or Fuji with ISO 100. You can process the slides at Ruby or PhotoHub. Cost is about $5.70/$6.00 per roll.

Happy shooting

Any idea how long does it takes for Ruby to process a roll of 120? I usually do my developing at fotohub (beach rd) and it takes only 3hrs..

colour processing (C41), slide (E6) or BnW? for slide and BnW, normally takes abt 1wk or so cos they sub-con it out for developing. colour, any lab will do, i guess.
