Thread: Airbus or Boeing?

  1. #1

    Default Airbus or Boeing?

Who will be proven right in the next decade?
Airbus believe that the future for air travel will be BIG planes to big cities.
Beoing believe that the future will be SMALL planes DIRECT to little places.
    always the Light, .... always.

Airbus I think might be "more" right then Boeing. Unless they do implement what some aviation leading thinkers call free flight. At present day they have fix commercial routes which is set up as flight paths and it is getting pretty congested. I was watching some documentaries on this about how flights have to take place in specific routes as routes or air spaces are controlled by countries and plane usually fly like stack one on top of the other meaning varying altitudes along those routes. Free flight do away with that and is suppose to make it more possible to add more planes in the air be it smaller or larger planes. With Airbus's A380, the theory is to have less planes in the air but still being able to convey just as much people and meet increasing demand for the next few decades.

these are very intersting times we live in and I think the next leap to a newer way of travelling. I can't wait to take a flight on this new behemoth A380.

hard to answer, it will depend on the airports and how each individual airlines run as well

airports in US or UK very crowder so a380 will be ideal for those busy airports , since cannot

increase numbers of flights the only way is to increase capacities of the flights.

i think that airlines will make use of both hub to hub and a380 to be more efficient

which ever plane provide the least running costs will be the future.

personally i would prefer flexibility, hub to hub solutions with more number of flights choices.

    personally i prefer boeing....

They have this concept when they launched the 747s and they realised that not many cities can afford building big airports. Lifestyle has also changed the way ppl travel for leisure and work and they prefer to travel direct to the destinations.

I know what you mean. That was why some were hoping to convert to Free Flight which is to fly direct and not go through hub routes like what we have now where we have stopovers for long distance flight. Problem is free flight is not a sound thing to do politically.,,and some say airports will lose money as flight route charges fee for using them.

But ultimately, so long as they get me from point A to Point B in one piece...I don't care how they get me there! heheheh

I can't imagine how the airspace will look like if they are follow the free flight rules,as in,every aircraft can fly at whatever altitude they like, whatever route they like.It will be distratrous if they are nobody to control them.

As a maintenance specialist in the aviation field.Planes are preferred to fly less frequent but with more capacity. As less maintenance will be required.Whenever a plane is flying, the air is wearing the aircraft's skin out.In long term wise, its very very bad for the aircraft.Plus, aircraft's structures and engines have lifespan.U wun wan to hit its max lifespan so fast,do u?So its advisable to maximise the capacity.

Fly less = Less maintenance! =)

Well, if it crashes. More missing bodies/souls will be accounted for.

impossible for airlines to fly less, they sure keep their aircraft as busy as possible...

    so more maintenance for you

Actually even though AirBus sounds correct.
    As a traveller, I'd prefer Boeing's vision.

Never mind abt travel where, juz get me to the destination in one piece and not many pieces spread over the sea or land.

Hehe, they fly to the max they can.Theres still a limit to the aircraft's lifespan....
    In the meantime,yah... more maintenance!
