What I don't like is the colour balance, somehow the colours look wrong/unreal to me. |

I think the colours have been over-saturated. Look at the blue glow around the faces in the background.
If you go lower, that could help... because from your angle, there's a big empty space between the boy and the two figures behind. |

Personally I feel that the two figures behind are rather distracting since they sort of compete with the boy for the viewer's attention. Maybe cropping them out would work better.
