change your point of view so that the background is nice (without the yellow poles) and last post process to make your image better.

technially apart it is a nice scene - the water spray, the smile and the twinkle which we see in our eyes.

I feel that you should either move more to the left to capture a profile of his face, or more to the right to capture his whole face from an angle.
For portraiture (even informal one like these), avoid capturing a split profile where the nose "breaks" the line of the face and part of the other eye is visible. |
