Good shots and nice composition... Ultra wide is not easy to use, for me at least, but I like these pics...

Seems that there's a lot more to learn to using wides. And I thought 24mm is all I can know... Looks like I haven't seen ultra wides yet...

Indeed for wide angle shots, it is very hard to control... it include too "many" stuff... and you need to be "VERY" close to the subject...

8mm is not a everyday lens, but interesting enough for some creative shots...

Will post some more if I had a chance to take more picts with this lens...

Some pretty nice shots you have there. Never knew Zenitar have a 8mm. What is the aperture? How does it compare to the Peleng 8mm/3.5?

Hi there,

Ah... sorry, its Peleng 8mm f3.5

I only shoot with f16 and set the lens to infinity and only worry about the composition.

He means 11-18 I think but he has habitually typed 17mm for some reason or other...

The horizon is slanted, yeah, but I know I find it very hard to take level shots with wide angle, hehe... May look better from a lower angle too...

Again great details in the photo - are the photos post processed or straight from the camera?

post processing is absolutely needed for these images.

few reasons..
1. Its 8mm circular fisheye and cause vignetting even with 1.5 crop, so cropping in PP stage is needed.

2. This lens has lower colour saturation, in fact it is a bit wash out for most case, so I had to shoot 0.5 stop under to keep the saturation level and increase with level and curves

3. This lens is not the sharpest lens that I ever use, its ok, but not enough, so sharperning is needed.

Also, there are alot of exposure different between the foreground and background, so I am doing merges for first image and doing cut out on second image.
