then ask them to clean, since they make it dirty.
i think i know why they give you back. the M & L, although its said to be 2 pieces, but they are together, and you buy the M & L, and not M, and you already have the L in your 7D. I think they can't replace just 1 of the 2 pieces, due to alignment? I guess the standard screen which is G is only 1 piece. The L is 2 pieces, M also 2 pieces, as well as ML. |

I've asked them previously about it. The D7D has 2 focusing screens unlike Dynax 7 where there's only one. If you changed from a new set to ML, you actually have to pay for both M and the L screens.

About 1 week ago, KM service center say no more ML screen. Do you know they have any more ML screen ? I hope they have a new shipment since last week. |

solid sia... i can clearly see what is in focus, whats not... and best of all, i can even focus on the printed word on a flat panel & spot on, unlike the older screen, older screen seems to be a tad off... esp shooting macros. must find time to shoot macros at AH...

can you try on a slower lens? words from others who had changed said only the f/2.8 lens gave the best results, while slower lenses would be very dim. |

Yes, try at least f/5.6 or f/6.3... these are the most common apertures for consumer grade optics...

don't think I'll change now since I already have the L screen, but most probably when I get the new upgraded body.

I CONFIRM 1 thing... hehehe
D7D is using 2 focusing screen snap into 1... just found my other piece, the M is without any focusing point, the L is with focusing point, so when u change to M, they just take out the G, den when u change to L, they just change the normal focusing with the L, and its both snaped together kind...

okie...
fyi, your focusing screen for the D7D is made out of 2 focusing screen. for normal out of the box 7D, it have 1 G focusing screen and 1 clear with the focusing point. so when you change to M screen, its just replacing the G with M, the clear focusing point 1 is used back. so when you change to L screen, its just replacing the clear focusing point screen with the grid with focusing point 1. The G is used back. so when using a ML, they will change both... simple as that... and both are clipped together than placed into the body.

Going by what you say about about the M & L focusing screens, that is the difference/advantage of one over the other apart from the presence of grid lines in the L? For example, what is the difference between the M and standard G? So when you combine M + L to become ML, what's the advantage for doing so? |

I have the L, the grid lines are very fine and does not obstruct your view at all. very easy on the eyes unlike the super-imposed screens in Nikon cams (which can be turned off). I like the L screen as it helps me to get my horizon correct. This is extremely useful for me when I shoot sports.
