you need a M42 --> Nikon mount adapter,
and this adapter MUST come with a optical elements if you want to focus to infinity, and if u put on such adapter.... the quality might drop as the glass u r using in ur adapter might filter/add in lighting. |

He can probably get the adapter mount from a horrible shop on the second floor of Peninisular Plaza whose name starts with the letter "K" or that shop in Chinatown perhaps. Last edited by kahheng; 17th November 2005 at 11:48 AM. |

The len can mount directly to the nikon camera without adapter. What I notice is the darker the view finder when the aperture ring set to big [the number is high] and the brighter the view finder when the aperture ring set to small number...Is that normal..
I have others nikon lens too but it did't show any abnormal when the aperture setting... James |

You are basically seeing the effects of the lens aperture closing and opening as you turn the aperture ring. You need to focus first and then set the lens to the desired aperture opening, meter, and then shoot. All very primitive. But you should take heart that many Canon full frame camera users who paid loads of money for their sophisticated double digit megapixel DSLRs are resorting to precisely this sort of lens use method when they use non-Canon EF mount lenses to overcome the limitations of the many Canon wideangle lenses as well The 80mm Biometar is a fine lens even wide open. If you find manually stopping down to meter and shoot incovenient, why not employ the lens as a portrait lens and shoot only at f2.8? Last edited by kahheng; 17th November 2005 at 05:43 PM. |

Thanks!
I believe that the len no need additional adapter since it can be mounted on the camera directly... ![]() |

Even a cheap and crappy Cosina is typically better made, better QC'd. ;-) Internally, the lens manufacturing design, and materials used is not suited for maintaining tight tolerances IMO. It will begin to fall apart the more you use it, requiring frequent servicing. Still, if you have a good sample. it's alright. And yes, I have this lens.
