Default F32X Refuse to Talk to My F828

Greetings!
Its been a very long time since my last post here and I have a problem with my F32X flash. I have not been using it for some time and when I use it last weekend, the fella refuse to work with my 828.

The flash is still in prestine condition (as it seldom used) and the batts are fully-charged Sanyo 2300.
I cleaned the contact points and tried tightening, loosening, taking out and putting the flash back but it doesn't work. The camera settings are correct. It eventually worked for a while after I put my mouth over the contact points to "moisturise" it a little. After I switched off the cam and flash, they refuse to acknowledge each other again - sigh

Does any one of you have this problem with your flash?

Hi Inimatad,

I got the same problem as u too...after awhile not using the flash. Both of them just refuse to acknowledge each other...
I have try to dry wipe their contact points...and sometimes it able to contact and sometimes not. I am pretty frustrated...then i realised that the surface(contact point) are metallic...I decide to use BRASSO to it. hee hee hee...
WORKs!!!! i have tried to remove and plug it back a couple of times...and it just acknowledge each like as if they are both new from the box.

Hmm ... Brasso huh?
I thought of using alcohol wipes too...hehee
I wonder what is Sony take on this.
I presume your F32X and F828 are working harmoniously together again after the brasso treatment. I will go and try later and see what happens...Thanks

This is a rather old and known issue with the F32X. Try switching off both flash and body, dismount the flash from the body and reinsert again before powering them up again. If this happens during important moments, good luck to you. It's pretty much like using a rifle in a battlefield, and the rifle bullet just jammed in your hour of need.

Yup, i am still using them...the 2units...
I just have a feeling that the contact point on F828 itself is very sensitive. And just abit of oxidation on it...already not able to sense. I have tried giving Sony stuffs to help me out(before i use the brasso method). I see them keep rubbing the surface on the contact point. And after about 20mins or so they are able to make it work...

U can give it a try with alcohol wipes as it dry up more faster. and able to clear oxidation on the contact point. Feed back if it works!

Ok guys - they are talking again.
After much thought, figured that using Brasso is a bit radical, so I resorted to the alcohol wipes and "Wa Lah!!!".
Still works after many hours......But I wonder for how much longer - hehee

Used to have this problem too, before I sold the F32x. Decided to go for the built in flash which is good enough for most situations.

It's likely to be bad contact between the flash and hotshoe.

Some people told me that rechargeable batts not that powerful and drains much faster on a F-32X. Also, don't use bounce cards or bounce the flash too much.
I tried. Confirm it won't last more than a smal handful of shots.
