Sometimes i let it hang from my camera + neckstrap but that seems pretty rough on the strap and cam mount. Most of the time my Bigma is mated to a monopod so I'll just carry the whole setup on my shoulder. I haven't seen the strap for the lens.

The Strap is supposed to be mounted somewhere at the back of the tripod mount. But i do not use the strap cos i find it very obiang..... I usually just carry my lens by the tripod mount. Otherwise i use the case which comes with the lens.

How about if the bigma was mounted to cam body and need to use both
hands to do things like previewing pic, change cam setting, going to Gents?

After some checking, some non-DG version do not come with the strap, may the older batch.
Problem is that some times you really need to free both hands and the lens
was not mount on monopod.

If I am doing previewing or making any adjustment on my cam, I always make sure that I have at least one finger 'hook' onto the tripod collar to reduce stress to the mounting. If going to gents, I will make sure I place it on a safe and dry surface

Btw, I don't use any straps on both my cam and lens

When Bigma Mounted to Camera Body, I usually hold it by the tripod mount lor.... but if i need to do things like previewing pic or change camera settings, I let it hang on my neck using the camera strap.... but then again.... thats only for a short while.... cos that mama is heavy.... long time no neck is no joke.....

I used to use Manfrotto 3221 Tripod with a markins M10 ballhead and never had any problems with slippage. Prior to that I was using a manfrotto 486RC2 Ballhead. That is terrible.... First the ball was lubricated with grease and if you touch the wrong part of the ballhead, you hands become real greasy and its rel difficult to wash it off. Then mounting a light setup on the ballhead is okay but when you mount the bigma, you get a big big slippage problem. Anywas, that is just my experience.

i think the monopod does not really matter
it is the head that is important.

I have been shooting with a borrowed bigma for the last 4 days.
and i used a cheap manfrotto monopod with head, total less than $100

Mine is the cheapest monopod bought from TCW last time for around $30

my monopod head is the same as yours.

But just as long as the monopod leg can hold the weight
it should not matter, since there is only one leg.

Anyway I'll go and see which one i am using

till later
