Default The future of KM film SLRs

Does KM have plans to produce new film SLR models?

I think the market is so small even for their digi bodies, no point jumping into a hole right?

I hope they dont abandon film SLRs totally. Maybe produce a new model once every 5 years.

I think the latest industry news is that they will definitely scale down film/amalogue cameras... and they may in fact ditch P&S film cameras completely as Nikon has... and they may also just retain the Dynax 7 and maybe update the Dynax 9 if they ever do... I can't see them launching a new range of film SLRs when the market for that has shrunk to niche proportions and then only students or art house pros requiring them which the current crop already filling that need without any real quantum leap advances in terms of technoloy for film cameras.

I don't think they really need to produce a new film SLR. The Dynax 7 is plenty good already so they should keep that in production. Film SLR technology has already matured. For e.g. Nikon's F6 had a relatively quiet release.

Don't think film will be popular again.

The cost too high for it. DSLR can be preview before send to develop n therefore, photo hardly "bad". But SLR still got the advance of FF, which DSLR lack of.

Instant feedback is one of best selling points of digital. I still have reasons for wanting film cameras to be around though. I wish film and support for analogue cameras don't disappear entirely. If I was 100% sure that it won't it's highly likely I'll stick to film and analogue.

It's never too late to switch to digital unless they change the lens mount lor...

Ben, unlikely there will be any serious fund pour into film SLR development. The demand has drop drastically over the last 2 yrs. Smaller film and camera manufacturers are closing down, bigger players are pulling out their funds and bet on digitals technology already. Film may not disappear soon (or even in long run), but will no longer be the main stream.

BBTM told me slide without mounting cost $8 to process now.. very $$$$!

No lah... TFCD(Time for CD) is an agreement where the photographer shoots for the model, and the model pose for the photographer, giving her time in return for a CD of the photos taken then. She does not charge the photograher, neither does the photographer charge her for his service, sorta like mutual agreement, good for new models and photographer.
