Who is interested in the E-500 Body ??

I just called up Oly, they might be bringing in a small qty of E-500 body onie during Nov-dec.....

UPGRADE UPGRADE !!!! dun have to sell my old Kit lens lo. !!!

Great Feature....i've been waiting for this feature !!! currently Canon 5D do have it ....but the price is

I am sure you are mistaken, because Oly(S'pore) has NO PLAN to bring in the E-500 (Body-only) package. Do let me have the name of the Oly personnel that you talked to, so that I can re-confirm with him/her again.

Apparently, someone I'm closed to, who happened to work in Oly(S'pore) sales & marketing is not even aware of what his own section is doing !!!

Hello Eric69 & MIA,

I sought confirmation & clarification from Olympus on whether SG will indeed have a body only option for the E500 (ie. without any lens to go along).

Their have affirmed that this body only option will indeed be available in Singapore. The likely window of availability will be in the Nov-Dec time frame (as reported by MIA), any earlier would be a bonus for eager adopters with existing E-System hardware, any later and the year end bonus might just come in handy :-)

This is also a benefit to those who wish to mix n' match the E500 with an appropriate first lens of choice; there was some clamouring for the 14-54 lens a while back for those who wished for a faster all round lens than that that comes with the kit.

Nice move on the part of Olympus. Hope this clarifies.

Wao.. thats great. this body only option is tempting.. just wondering, will it be part of a promo package like that the normal kit is having @ the moment? (ie, the dry cab, 1GB CF, etc etc)

I've checked with Olympus SG, the RRP for the E500 body is $1599/-. Pricey I must say.

If I may, the reported price obtained referred to the recommended retail price (RRP) and not indicative of street prices, stores pricing will be lower. You may wish to enquire from dealers direct :-)

Got it for SGD 1409 E-500 + 14-45mm + 1GB + lowepro bag + Dry Cabinet + Adobe PS elements + Tripod + Screen Cover. Not the best deal but what the heck. And the Dry Cabinet and Adobe are while stock last.

As I have said earlier, those who want to buy will buy, those who will not buy will make all the noise, but never buy. It's so common in Clubsnap. People who have no intention of buying will make alot of noise saying things like, they are going to buy it when it's out, asking for best prices etc.., but once the product is out, they would go MIA. And till the next time, the next big thing gonna come out, and they'll start the cycle all over again..

I have obtained official confirmation from Olympus Singapore on the RCP for the E500 body. It's at $1399/- Availability at stores should be next week. As mentioned before, street prices are likely lower than the RCP, negotiation skills apply :-)
