Default Between Artistic Integrity & Money

Some of us here are full working pros, some of us shoot for fun, some of us shoot for fun and an occasional event for the small bit of money to defray the high costs of our personal hobby.

Don't worry this is an anonymous poll! Choose the answer which best answers ur heart.

    Scenario
Someone wants u to shoot for them, a wedding or a product for example. They're rich and they have an attitude towards u. And whatever u shoot, they put it down like was some low-life art and tell YOU to shoot in such and such a way to the point where u no longer recognise the photo as YOUR WORK and a piece of art but rather a piece of nonsensical crap which u swear that a 3yr old kid holding a point-&-shoot disposable camera can do better.

    What would u do?

    wat poll?

seriously, money can make a man humble or proud, depends which direction its going... and the amount...

so when u ask me, that depends how much i am paid... if i'm paid 10x current monthly salary for a day's job, i dun mind them even yelling at me thou... but if i'm paid just my daily pay or maybe only 2x... u start to talk abit louder only, i'll walk, regardless its your watever day, its not my day to shoot afterall...

erm maybe u shd put more options. cos i fall into neither category.

i would just not shoot for them. but its not cos of my pride or artistic integrity, but simply because i think its not nice for people to put down others.

for me, its not the money that matters. there are many more things to life than money alone. i've been shooting for fun and am enjoying it. if a chance comes along, i'll take it. but if someone puts me down completely, then i'll just not do it.

but of course, for working pros, they face a diff prob from mine

    Well, ok den.

Assuming if they are paying u $10K to shoot their wedding or product.

And they holler at u and call u over by snapping their fingers and whistling (like they are calling for a dog). And crack jokes and other stuff at ur expense to the point where they drag ya Papa and Momma into their jokes.

    In short, utter humiliation...

For $10K. Would u bear such humiliation even though u know u'll be bending ur artistic and personal integrity by shooting for such... such... beasts?

Nope! S$10K is not enough. S$250K, then we might be talking. And still I am not sure.

    Sad fact huh?

Ultimately, power, money, authority rules all.
Artistic integrity? That's reserved for those who are destined to be poor their entire lives.

No wonder they say artists are poor ppl until after their deaths.

Thankfully, at the present moment, this is only a theoretical consideration.

But depending on how desperate I am to put bread on the table - I will do it!

I will take the **** - all for the purpose of my loved ones. When I click the shutter, my vision will not be that ar****le.

My vision will be better times for my loved ones. What my parents did for me.

    An alternative view.

But den again, having ur pride and integrity being hit and slammed like a plaything. Being turned into an object of utter humiliation and the highest level of insults ever rained on u, 100 times, no, a thousand times more den what u'd faced in the worst scenario of ur working life....

For this sort of awful humiliation... u're willing to do it for ur loved ones?

Muz salute u for ur ability to bend backwards. I personally can't take this lying down.

As long as there is no serious physical harm to me, the humiliation is nothing. Thankfully my late father instilled in me the conviction that no amount of verbal insults and humiliation can make any difference to who I am.

Both my late parents had been through a lot!

    A lot!

As a hired hand, I'll just take the money.
