Default Lens Query: Sigma 100-300mm F4 APO EX IF for 7D

Does anyone owned/used this lens? I'm thinking of replacing my old Sigma 75-300mm F4.5-5.6 push-pull with it. It has excellent reviews on the net. I'm saving for a KM or Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 but I reckon I would prefer the extra reach of 300mm. It's a tad heavy at 1.44kg but has IF so has a fixed overall length. And if I ever want extra reach, a 1.4X TC would still work at F5.6.

Any SG prices? Comments/other suggestions welcome.

It should cost around S$1550 to S$1.6k+. It has pretty good reviews on its excellent image quality though I didn't try it out before.

Alamak! No way I can be at Clementi MRT station on weekdays at 6:30pm ... Don's in SG and I'm in Melb. Although I have a courier visiting Melb at end of month.

So this Don ... can I trust him ... him shady character or not ?

Wish I could try it out before buying ... why didn't you put it up for sale when I was in SG last month ?!?

hehe, anyway i'm in no hurry to sell. i'm shady or not, i also don't know.
but that lens is quite old, when i buy from a 2H shop at Adelphi, David don't even know the age. its quite slow when it hunts, but focusing is quite fast but of course not as fast as the ATX-2 or the Sigma as its the very first version to exist. but in terms of colour and sharpness, i'm pretty impressed.

Thanks for your comments, Don. Everyone is shady ... when they stand in the shade .

As for the Tokina, age doesn't matter to me as long as it has good glass and performs, and it's difficult to judge both from such a distance. No offense to you ... that's just the way I am. I'm in no hurry to buy either, so maybe we could still close a deal the next time I'm in SG (dunno when). Good luck to your sell, though .

On the other hand, I can get the Sigma here for approx AUD1,100 shipped from HK . Like I said, no hurry ...

Eh?!? I'm hokkien and I've never heard of ... ooooh! That word! Didn't quite come out right in English spelling. At least not in my Sarawak hokkien .
