Cool Recommend a mid range scanner?

Hi I'm interested to buy a film scanner for my B&W and Slide film. Since dedicated film scanners appear to be $1k+, are there any good substitutes in terms of flatbed scanners? Anyone got some recommendations and esp demo scans?

Thanks!

Are you scanning just 35mm film (i.e not medium or large format films)? If so, there're quite a few capable film scanners in the market under $1k... try the entry level Minolta or Nikon film scanners... you should get good results....
