the main issue with the D1 series has gotta be the batteries.
used to own a D1... the batteries are not that strong and drains pretty fast. on top of that, its quite hard to buy the D1 series batteries, but perhaps u can try EastGear. they carry third party batteries for the D1 back then. not sure about it now. when i think about the time i was using the D1, i ![]() perhaps the problem is as exciting as the Sanyo rechargeables. otherwise, the D1 series are a pretty good buy currently. tough and all that juice that comes with Nikon's professional series.

I can find 10 EN-4s for you if you want, but they don't come cheap and like CC mentioned, battery is a drainer, esp if you're travelling in colder countries.
Another issue also is, no front dial on the D1X's grip. ![]() |

Eastgear still carries the EN-4 batteries; they are slightly cheaper than the original Nikon ones. As for battery life (Eastgear vs Nikon) I can't really give a good judgement cos the Nikon batteries that I had were a little old, so it is not a fair comparison to the newer Eastgear batteries. But definately a problem in cold climate. RGDs |

Although these batteries may be brand new (in the box) and unused. It seems that recharable batteries also have a certain shelf life. Even without charging them or using them, the cells will tend to loose its capabilities to hold charges after some time. If the above is correct, then it will depend on the production date of the 10 pieces of EN-4 that you have found. If they are anywhere more than 3 years old ... then maybe you want to check if they still hold charges well ... RGDs |

You can also get them from ebay => Search D1X 'batteries' - or EagleImports. I do my 'annual' orders from vendor like them . Bout AUD27 or USD20. I usually buy about 3 and when you factor in the shipping - its not really that bad USD10-20.
http://search.ebay.com.au/search/sea...ery&category0= Batt life on a D1H for me is about 250-375. Not sure for a D1x. enjoy! |

Thanks guys but what about the colours? Heard that the D1 series colour is not too good compaired to D100. True?
