Default SU-800 = i-ttl for F5, F100?

Just to start a lil speculation here...

would the su-800 enable ittl for the older film bodies not equipped with ittl, like the F5 or f100??

Hmmm that would be nice.

But the i-TTL works on the flash to the body, the body must be able to send out and receive the information from the flashes in order to perform TTL. Guess i-TTL is still dependant on both bodies and flash.

So if SU-800 is only the master commander, guess it won't work on film bodies and/or D100, D1X, D1H.

It should according to NikonUSA website: "Flash modes: i-TTL, D-TTL, TTL (film-based cameras), M (manual)"

Will tell you when I receive my units. Have been first on the waitlist for two sets (2x SU-800 plus 8x SB-R200 together with 2x D200) since three weeks ago when I was informed by my supplier.

Dang! You're making me very very jealous here!!!

I think for film SLR's it would be just TTL, but for the new DSLRs, i-TTL + CLS? Wow... if buying the SU-800 can do CLS with TTL/i-TTL/D-TTL. WOOOOO!!!

From what I read on the NikonUSA site, it seems that if you are using D70/D70s/D200, you don't need the SU-800 as you use the camera as Commander to trigger the SB-R800's.

Yes, that's right, but for those D2 users, they can't without a SB-800!!! SU-800 is an ideal solution!!

Yah lor... need to get the SU-800 for our current systems (D100 and D2Hs) to be fully compatible and interchangable. Otherwise, my engineers will start complaining about not having complete systems in the field.
