Default Coolpix Recommendation

I am looking for a Coolpix camera that can handle RAW pictures. Decide to use coolpix for family outings in SG as the DSLR too heavy.

Will the newer ones like the L series and the S series be able to do that? Also, are their built-in flash good for family shots?

Pardon my ignorance, con I use DSLR, and recently borrowed the 4300 to use. The only thing I like is the size. Was wondering if all other coolpix cams (apart from the S4, which I have read the posts here) are like that, ie slow to focus, slow to write, no RAW, no flash attachment??

I'm selling a 5700

But be warned, NEF writing is very slow due to DC's IO.

THanks... I've checked the specs. Seems impressive.

1. RAW
2. Can use external flash

Need info on:
1. Focus speed
2. How many shots until buffer full.
3. Price.

Anyone with this info?

THanks in advance.

Asking for 600, have an offer at 450 already, if you're interested, we can work things out

One comment i would give for this camera is the metal thingy to secure you strip is too low and it hurt your hand

tried this camera some time back.... very good macro mode...

focus speed is pretty ok...
but startup a bit on the slow side....
can't really remember the price, but it is not very cheap....at least for me...
then again, it is 8MP, so i guess that's why the price is on the high side...
also, this is considered a prosumer, thus the pricing is always expected to be more expensive than a typical pns DC....

as for weight safer, i would opt for the smaller DC... though its performance is in no way comparable to a DSLR....or a prosumer, for that matter...
but it should be more than enough for the casual family outing or gathering....

hope your quest for a good DC is successsful.... cheerrs

1. Focus speed
Focus Speed is good at normal circumstance, but not as fast as DSLR (of course)

2. How many shots until buffer full.
• High (2.3 fps; up to 5 frames)
• Low (1.2 fps; up to 11 frames)

3. Street Price.
RCP is $1488
Recently B & S is about $800 plus.
