Hi all,
Am thinking of letting go of the 24-120VR and getting the 18-200 VR. You think its a good idea? Nowa days I only take pics of my family. ie standard "1-2-3-click" shots. And the 121mm to 200mm will probably give me a bit of range during travels. Any comments welcome Cheers. Last edited by jamestan; 1st November 2005 at 11:49 AM. |

Just did a Google search. DX 18-200 AFS-VR f/3.5-5.6G. Nice!!
If pics taken at both ends are reasonably acceptable, this is pretty much the one and only general purpose lens that anybody may need! (serious amateurs - semi-pros - pros not applicable) |

I do have MF SLR bodies, but I am using MF lenses with them. (FM2, FTn, 50f/2, 35-105). So, DX or non DX would be not important for me. Planning to get the D200 to replace the aging D100 too. Thanks for the indicator that 18-200 is DX. I almost forgot about that. |

The glass is good a GP glass, don't expect miracles out of it.

Coolpix S3 swee swee. Wife wants that. But I am looking for something that can record RAW, smaller than D100, for family outings. (Someone recommended 8400, she complain too big)
Tsk tsk... very hard to please her.... |

Just saw the review on the 18-200 lens. Looks damn good. Anyone wants my 24-120? May put it up on B and S soon.

is the USD 1600 selling price of D200 inclusive of the lens? if so, it will be quite a good deal to sell my d70s and get the D200 kit

Why would a 18-200 be any better than the 24-120? Buying because of a wider and longer coverage?
So far the old 24-120 has average quality images, even with the new VR 24-120 and VR 18-200 would not be any better. |
