I have sponsored and is still sponsoring one from Vietnam since 2002 (SGD45 per month). World Vision is a repuatble Christian organisation. Apart from termly reports, I get letters from the sponsored child quite often too.

Am thinking of sponsoring another one, this time from Thailand.

    Cheers...

Flexible... I told them I will sponsor till he's 21. The child is only 13 this year, so, there's still some time for me to go...

According to the website, sponsoring a child means that your monthly contribution (they call it a gift) is pooled with other sponsors, and the whole community that the child belongs to benefits from the pool of funds. They will send regular reports to the sponsor of the progress of the child, he/she being a baromenter of the improvement of the community's welfare.

Hope this helps. Visit www.worldvision.org.sg for more details.

    yeah it's something like that.
So it's not exactly sponsoring a child but helping the whole community to improve the living of a village.

wondering how much of the "gift" is given to the community, and how nmuch is used up in various management and administrative cost!

Actually, I don't. I am planning to pay them a visit tomorrow during lunch time to look into the possibility of sponsoring another child, this time from Thailand. Wanna join me? I'll PM my HP no to you.

I have actually called up WV Thailand (NE region) and they will be e-mailing me some info on needs over there. If you like, I can forward the e-mail to you. PM me your e-mail address.
