Default Philips LCD 150 S3

I'm just wondering what are the monitor settings people use for this monitor? No matter what I do I cant seem to calibrate the monitor correctly...even on the lowest brightness and contrast settings, it seems a bit too bright...any advice? Even using Adobe Gamma doesn't seem to help.

LCDs can't produce pure black accurately. Due to their nature.

That's why no true photo editor/designer uses LCDs, only CRTs.

Note that not all LCDs can be calibrated correctly. This is especially so for the lower end ones which are sold all over the place now.

Hmm...i think my monitor falls under that category. Oh well...I suppose as long as I can see the pictures and differentiate black from white, I suppose I should be happy.

You can't get true black, cos of the back light. The LCD crystals cannot totally block the light.

That would explain why I couldn't adjust the brightness and contrast properly using adobe gamma.
