Hi.
I was out shooting this last Saturday and encountered a strange problem for the first time. I was shooting raw, with my D70 and Sigma 18-50 f2.8 and using my Lexar 80x 1gb card. Then my camera froze with the mirror stuck on open, the top LCD says "Err"...switching off and on several times brought it back. This happened a few times during the shoot. And then mysteriously it became ok again. Later on my way home tried to view the pictures on the back LCD and after awhile it says "folder contains no pictures" but top LCD says only "33" images. When I got home I could get the pictures out fine from the card using my computer. Then on Sunday morning i went shooting a little and encountered the same "folder contains no pictures" problem. But no freezing of mirror. Anyone encountered anything like this before? Is it my D70 having heart problems and going to die soon? Terok man... |

i have the stucked mirror problem also...
sometime the mirror will just stuck open with "err" msg on the top LCD. i also donno why...but after few more click of shutter button to "smoothen" the joint the camera can be used again. Never have the "contain no photo" though. Do you put your D70 in dry-cabinet? at first i thought might be cos too moisture the mechanical part got problem....

the "err" happens.
that's when you press the shutter at high frequency for a while. and yah, switching off won't help. only if you press the shutter 1 more time then it will quickly shoot twice without recording anything on the card and become normal. that always happen on me, but when shooting slowly it's fine.

This happened only to me once in the middle of an important event. Almost gave me a heart attack.

Same problem. However, mine (after pressing shutter btn) mirror and shutter opens. Err comes out.
Clicking shutter btn again "dislodges" the thing, but same problem appeared each time later. No choice, I have sent it in to nikon. ONLY 23k shots taken. |

sounds like the same experiences here. i haven't sent it in yet though. it hasn't happened since that day. but it sure is scary. the other problem was my card not being read properly by the cam. anyone experience that? maybe its a problem with the card. sigh. time to get another one.

Same thing just happened to me at sungei buloh this morning!! But it's still gets stuck after I release the mirror by making it dark (like putting on the lens cap) and pressing the shutter release buttom.
I guess I have no choice but to bring in for servicing?? |
