Default question on close up filter

hi,

i am intending to get a cloe up filter for the nikkor 105mm micro (diameter 52mm)

would like to hear your recommendations....

but a few questions:

1. called up and heard from salesman that the 4T comes in 52mm while 5T and 6T all come in 62mm.... does that mean i can only get the 4T ?

2. is stacking one close up filter enough? or is it normal to stack 2 close up filters, like a 4T and a 6T together on the lens? my intention is to bring out the details of the insect's eyes... as can be seen in some pics from tchuanye, melvin and megaweb.... very inspired by their photos...

pls advise.... thanks

3T and 5T are +1.5
4T and 6T are +2.9

Since yours is 52mm, u shld get 3T or 4T

so if i use the 5T on the 105mm micro, which itself gives a 1:1 already, what magnification will i get in the end?

also, is it strong enough to give the details of the eyes of a fly?

thanks

If you want even greater magnification, a tube would be better. Fixed between the lens and the cam, it would reduce the distance between lens and object.

As it is a tube, no additional lens to add any additional aberration. With the correct techniques like tripod and small aperture, your pic should come out tack sharp.

with the near focusing distance by using a tube... the subject (insects of course) might just be scared off.

is there any secret to keep them still and not move?
