Default Mirror lens, Sigma 600 F/8, will it allow auto-exposure?

Just wondering, while the lens allows only manual focusing, will my 350D do the
auto-exposure when in Program and aperture priority mode? I need many attepmts
before can properly shoot one picture in manual mode, which is troublesome.

It should work fine in aperture priority mode. It may work in program mode (which should degenerate into aperture priority mode, but I've seen some erratic exposures of a Canon DSLR in a similar situation, so I would not want to risk it.

Exposure is not so much of a problem - focusing can be (the viewfinder image of a 350D is very small). You will very likely also need a very rigid tripod to avoid camera shake.
