Default fitting manfrotto ballhead onto slik tripod

hi guys, am gg to buy either 484rc2 or 486rc2 ball head to fit onto my slik 330dx.

the thing is that, right now when i remove my slik 3 way pan head, i think the screw thread is different.

can anyone enlighten me on how to fit a manfrotto ballhead onto a slik tripod? also, does the manfrotto ball head come with its own screw?

cos what happens now is that the slik tripod uses a FEMALE screw thread. i thought the manfrotto heads are female themselves? is this correct?

huh ur slik is male? mine is female leh....hmm is urs 330dx also?

if im not wrong, my 330dx has a 3/8 inch female screw thread.

so if the manfrotto is female, how to join together?

also, the 330dx has a hole at the bottom of the column, prob to put in a hook. anyone did that? where to get the hook from?

I also same config as u, 330DX with 486RC2, no problem mah. Just buy a screw thread adapter from CP, $3, they know what is that.

My 330DX tripod is male, 486RC2 is female.

i dun have problems using manfrotto ballheads/tripod heads on slik tripods/monopods... tripods/monopods are always male while the heads are female.... what's different is the size of the threads. u just need to get a thread adaptor.

i think im missing sth here.

cos im sure my 330dx is female, not male. ok let me try to describe.

the pan head has a hole through which i put a Nut. the nut will reach to the female screw thread of the 330dx tripod. i have to use an allan key to tighten the nut.

is this the same as urs?

??? Dunno what u mean, haha. I just twist the 330DX pan head to unscrew it from the tripod, then fix the ball head on.

mayb u trying 2 say ur screw thread is reverseable? my trpod uses a reverseable screw, oso uses an allan key 2 tighten it.

if i m right, u dun need 2 buy any thread adaptor already.

But if clicknick has the same configuration but doesn't need an Allan key, then what's going on?

I cannot find the model number of my Slik leh, not on the legs, the box or the literature. If we have the same model, I can't figure out how you "castrated" Mr Slik. I see Allan key receptors at the uh, hip joints only.

Anyway, if you're buying a new Manfrotto ball head from CP, just re-attach and bring the whole thing there. I believe the CP staff is sweet enough to do it for you. Watch them carefully and learn lor.

hmm.... think the nut "belongs" to the tripod not the pan head.....
