hi, i am still using my c4000z, some time back , i have dried up my olympus rechargable and brought a couple of aa alkaline battery to use my camera.
i notice that the alkaline battery dried up in only a few shots. does it mean that i can only use olympus batt for taking photo. well, the first reason for me to have choosen olympus is that i think i will encounter the above scenario therefore having able to buy battery froma regular store is a good option. but i am wrong. no doubt , the performance of the camera have never let me down. |

There are hundreds of rechargeable batteries on the market. Personally I started with 1600mAh AAs in my C-700, and the last batteries I used were 2300mAh AAs (higher capacity). If I were using it still today (instead of my E-300) I'd get the 2500mAh AAs.

Hi, 2 possible power options for your C4000Z:
1. 4pcs 2500mah NiMH AAs - just avoid Sanyo for now as a lot of batches have rapid discharge problem. These should last quite a bit in your C4000Z but note that if you leave the batteries more than 3days after charging, the power does drop quite a lot. 2. 2pcs Rechargeable Lithium Ion CRV3 - IMO the best solution as nothing beats Lithium Ion for lack of memory effect and you can keep the battery for long time even after charging as they hardly discharge at all. This is the better solution for people who don't shoot that often. Check out this thread in which I discussed about them more. |

unless u get those specifically for high-drain devices batteries(of which ur digital camera is...it has to run the lcd screen/ccd/sound effects etc.. compared to a low drain device such as a remote control, where the alkalines would last infinitely long...), which cost alot, normal alkalines won't last long as even though they have high capacity they cannot release it in large quantities without thier output voltage dropping and the camera shows flat... rechargeable NiMH on the other hand have a lower voltage BUT can stand up to high drain very well with little voltage sag.... hence are much more suitable for digital cameras... |

that means if i still have to keep tons of batteries in my pocket when i go photo shooting. i have never tried the "e" brand that claims last longer in camera.

get some NiMH rechargeable batteries lar.... good ones are pretti reasonably priced nowadays....
u can get a good charger + a few sets high capacity batteries for around $40-50... the only drawback is that rechargeable batteries self discharge by about 5-10% a day, so u have to charge them before u go shooting... but many many of us use NiMH batteries for flash and camera.... |

then i could say, no camera will last 10 days without rechargeing.
if i am going for a 2 week trip on a train. then i cannot charge my camera. well, for mobile phone if i have a spare phone it can last for at least 3 weeks. but not my camera. must keep one of those manual (without batteries) one. |

if u really need some backup batts ... get a couple of the E lithiums ... they perform very very well on digicams compared to the standard alkaline .. (i know they cost a BOMB .. but they get the job done ) |
