Still not possible to view the thumbnals in WinXP "without" the help of any 3rd Party Software so far.
I use Picasa to view my images on my disk though.

If you have the older version of PS (ver 6), they have a dll that extends Explorer to view it in thumbnails. Search the web for the solution as I can't remember the details...
