Hi, I'm using a DSC-W1 camera, and is planning an upgrade. Since you guys are the gurus, what is my next best upgrade, with the following criteria:
Criteria for upgrade: - min 5mp - can fit waist pouch easily (no SLR size please) Things I like about DSC-W1 (and dont wanna give up): - long shutter mode - large 2.5" LCD screen (but a 2" would be fine) - uses common type battery (AA size) Wish to have: - strong telephoto (zoom) - anti shake technology - 640x480 movie with sound p/s: dont see any reason to get DSC-W7 because the extra resolution isnt enough to justify an upgrade Last edited by michhy; 25th October 2005 at 07:17 PM. |

If anti shake is a must, then you will be better off looking at a Panasonic one.
Go visit www.dpreview.com and check out all the camera reviews. Will be extremely helpful.

IMO, the W-series do not produce good night shots because of the way the aperture works. You may wish to look at the Canon cameras if you wish to take nice night shots (I noticed you wanted long shutter timings).

Give Sony H1 and Pana LZ5 a try. i find the latter has higher noise at high ISO setting but you may like its other features.

LX-1 is pretty ex, from what I've seen of it. Around 900plus i think. Not really worth the price if you ask me. At that kinda price, I would want my cammie to be perfect but the LX-1 is still not perfect! The usual panasonic noise.. sigh.
By the way, is your W-1 good? the W-5's an upgrade of it and I was thinking about it. Except I heard it has v limited aperture options. Last edited by elhire; 25th November 2005 at 03:23 PM. |
