I find it over-USM.
What do you think? |

Nice captures John - that was the Aussie's rider's (in the pink shorts) signature move I think. I have several shots of him in almost exactly the same pose every run. I was just next to you I think - the English guy with D2X.

There was this guy who was half naked and red as a lobster from the sun. Really have to admire his dedication...Is that anyone here?

I am very sore today (from sunburn - not wakeboarding) but stupidly kept a singlet on so have the worst farmer's tan I have ever had! Great event though and worth it for the pics.

indeed. a tad too much USM. try 250%, 0.3px, 0 threshold. so far, it's the most workable settings i've read about. when resizing smaller, apply another 2 lesser USM passes, maybe 60%. should be better off then.
considering it was fairly sunny, your shots seem underexposed somewhat. |

Actually I'm lowering the exposure as I feel that the faces of the riders are a bit over exposed on the 4th & 5th pic...check on the curves and it's still look perfectly ok.

I personally find the background a bit distracting.

Now I know why there is sharpening effect...it is due to CS limitation upload size 100K...initial I try to upload 750 x 500 so that we can see clearly the detail of the water...& I tried to downsize again to 600 x 400 so that it can be less than 100k...and the image somehow become soft again...so I use USM for the 3rd time...
