Went down for the 2nd day of the HSBC Wakeboarding World Cup 2005. Some of the shots below were cropped, all post processed in Photoshop. Most of the shots were taken from the VIP area and some from the media boat since my friend had connections. The rides on the MasterCraft boats are just
. Fantastic.I think this is where I finally feel how handicapped my 300D is since the only way I can get AI Servo is in "Sports Mode" which severely limits how I can control the shots (focusing points, exposure compensation, ISO selection etc.). So some of the shots I got were OOF where the camera focused on the background instead of the subject. #1 Womans' Semi-Finals ![]() #2 One of the wakeboarders from the mens section ![]() #3 Dan Nott and Phillip Soven having a friendly conversation ![]() #4 ![]() |

I also felt that a 70-200mm may not have been sufficient enough to isolate the subjects in this kind of situation, maybe a 300mm or a 400mm would have better. It was also quite hard to get clean backgrounds when I was shooting from the media boat, maybe it wasn't that much of an advantage anyway, it was fun though.

wow!
how nice the photos are. they really justify your 'handicapped 300D'.

My equipment not pro, entry level kind only
I still think my shots are below par though, its my first time taking such action sports. Next try would be somewhere in December during the Singapore Marathon. I wished I had something longer though.Sifted through a second round and found some decent photos. #9 ![]() #10 ![]() #11 ![]() #12 ![]() |
