Default HSBC Wakeboarding World Cup 2005 - **Day 2**

Went down for the 2nd day of the HSBC Wakeboarding World Cup 2005. Some of the shots below were cropped, all post processed in Photoshop. Most of the shots were taken from the VIP area and some from the media boat since my friend had connections. The rides on the MasterCraft boats are just . Fantastic.

I think this is where I finally feel how handicapped my 300D is since the only way I can get AI Servo is in "Sports Mode" which severely limits how I can control the shots (focusing points, exposure compensation, ISO selection etc.). So some of the shots I got were OOF where the camera focused on the background instead of the subject.

I also felt that a 70-200mm may not have been sufficient enough to isolate the subjects in this kind of situation, maybe a 300mm or a 400mm would have better. It was also quite hard to get clean backgrounds when I was shooting from the media boat, maybe it wasn't that much of an advantage anyway, it was fun though.

n0d3, yup, I agree with you. Seems that taking photos from the boat get you a more cluttered back-ground.

Yup but I guess the guy could manoeuvre the boat next to the dock area (seen it), from there you could shoot against the other side while being closer to all the action. I guess its because we were there basically for a ride, nothing too photographic-ish. And just in case you're wondering, we didn't disrupt any of the media photographers since they already had their turn and used the boat before us to get their shots.

My equipment not pro, entry level kind only I still think my shots are below par though, its my first time taking such action sports. Next try would be somewhere in December during the Singapore Marathon. I wished I had something longer though.

Sifted through a second round and found some decent photos.
