Note, I'm basing this on my experience with the C-700...the C-770 may be slightly different. This should all be covered in the reference manual that is on the CD that came with the camera...you can also download it from your regional Olympus website. As they say, RTM.

First you need to have an Olympus brand xD card (Olympus branded cards have some extra code on them to enable the Panoramic mode)...then:

1. With the Mode Dial set to Portrait, Sports, Landscape, or P, press OK/Menu to display the top menu, then press the right arrow on the arrow pad to display the Mode menu. With the CAMERA tab highlighted, press the right arrow to activate the menu.

2. Press the down arrow on the arrow pad to highlight PANORAMA, then press the right arrow to display image alignment guidelines.

3. Pictures are normally taken from left to right as shown by the arrows on the viewfinder. However, you can press any of the arrows on the arrow pad before taking the first picture to shoot right to left, top to bottom, or bottom to top.

4. Take up to 10 photos trying to match 10-20% of the previous image you took with the image you're about to take, then press OK/Menu to exit panoramic mode.

Infact u can use any camera, card and tripod.
Just photos and free software can do the stitching already.
Try to overlap by about 30%, using software that allows you to reconfigure and adjust the stitching will be better.
Cropping the final image is inevitable, experience with taking more field of view in your photos.

There are more indepth articles about this.

(a quick n fast panorama just to share)

there s no software which could do a 100 percent good panorama photo. you still need a little touching up to enhance the photo.

for panorama's the easiest software to use is panorama factory that does a very good job and is pretty simple to use... but of cost good usuually not free... i think its USD$29...

the free manual version to do panaroma's is here...
http://olympusdigitalschool.com/phot...mas/index.html

the bottom half of the tutorial shows how to do it in photoshop...
u can use ur c770 no prob.. try to use a tripod so all the shots have straight horizons and u dun end up rotating all the shots... if possible try to correct for any distortion(barrel/pincusion) before stitching the photos together...

Choose a level and flat ground.
Do a trial run, like swinging your camera on the tripod, make sure u lock the neccessary axles. Gauge wat u want in your photos, set your focusing to infinity, adjust watever setting u need, like F8 or more.

That should get u started.

#u didnt give enough allowance for a crop. Normal

we have to accept the fact that all camera have lenses distortion. if you take a picture with 8mm lens. it will be a fisheye picture. so how do one expect a non distorted panorama.
