Hi,
I do not have the iP8500, but I've the i9950 which is the A3 version of the iP8500. I've tested the iP8500 against the i9950 by printing the same images, and the results were similar. Great colour gamut plus vibrant reproduction. Highly recommended... There do not seem to have any replacement for the iP8500 yet... |

Thanks guys! Ok, sounds tempting for me to consider...
Goldmember... Is the eye1 photo a printer calibration device? Was told it depends on whether the device has support for the printer you are using... Concerned as the iP8500 is relatively new... Tnx. |

the eye1 photo is a color management kit. it creates printer profile, calibrate monitor, digital cameras and others. as long as the printer software supports no color correction and you are printing from photoshop, then any printer has no problem. its not like the color spyder.

Oh thanks.. I'm using the Spyder for separate monitor calibration .. And I know PrintFix requires that the printer be supported by it. Sorry for the ignorance! So is this Eye One by Gretag? Roughly how much is it and where can I buy it?My main problem has always been getting the colors I want to be right. Firstly, the colours I see on my camera LCD screen are diff from my monitor (was told can't do anything about this part as it's inherent in the camera?) and what comes out from the printer doesn't quite agree with the monitor's too (I prob need a better printer calibration device). |

that's the problem. the spyder is made for specific printer but not the eye1. you can get it from cathay photo (maybe other place have it too, i dunno). it should cost around 2.5K. price is steep so my suggestion is that you buy it if you are printing a lot. having said that, i get perfect colors now each time. i am using my company's kit so.....

Hi Kiwi2,
I'm using the Spyder with the i9950. The Spyder calibrates the monitor to specific standards, so the display is accurate. The i9950 (and iP8500 too) comes with canned profiles for the Canon papers, so you will get accurate results close to the screen display. Of course, the EyeOne that Goldmember is using is even better, but using the Spyder alone with factory-created profile supplied with the Canon printer will get you pretty close to what you're aiming for. For critical accuracy and ability to profile third-party paper, Goldmember's EyeOne system will be the better solution. Hope this helps. |

GoldMember.. Oh wow... 2.5k.. Way off my league for home printing... good u have your company's...
Neo, oh.. So the new i series Canon printers do give the so-called "canned profiles"... I read that in some book. When I used the old Canon S800, there wasn't such a thing.. So it was a big headache. Though I read strictly speaking, one should do a printer profiling after changing every batch of inks or paper... But I guess as long as I stick with Canon papers, I should be ok rite...I'm particular abt colour accuracy but not to the very last dot. Tnx! |

Epson n HP are better than Canon in terms of the black and white printing... But tink HP inks are much more expensive? Not sure about Epson's... |

bear in mind that, most of the ink will be use to do cleaning on the epson's printer due the clogging issues. if you do not print frequently, forget about the Epson printer, its just too costly to maintain.
