I'm still holding on to my C2040Z for now.
However due to the size factor now (after adding the convertor), I find myself using it lesser and lesser nowadays..... Is C2040Z still worth to hold on? Or is there any Oly compact camera out there (with manual controls) that I can buy to replace it? Thanks for any suggestions ![]() |

The camedia series C2000 to C5000 series were about one of the best in its class during its time.
Guess the question you have to ask yourself is why do you truly use it less frequently. - you find the model is somewhat dated now, features to you now not as good? - tired of taking pics? Losing interest in the hobby? - find that you reach a glass ceiling? Camera's features are limited? Those were the types of questions that I asked myself when my 4 yr old C3040 got damaged from corrosion. Well as a result I went out to find a brand new C3040 as a replacement and the E300. IMHO (agains its my own personal perception) chasing technology results in much $$ scarifice. Models get obsolete pretty quick these days. I determine my current and future needs and plan my purcase around it. Again that's just me. All of us have different buying behaviour. ![]() |

The C2040Z has a great lens and pretty good image quality but I find it a slow camera. I had the C3040Z too and upgraded to a C5050Z when the CCD died.
However, the C2040Z's 2MP may not exactly be cutting it. IMO, for digital manipulation, cropping and printing big, the action starts at 4MP. But for posting images on web and all, the C2040Z is sufficient as it is. If you really must have a new camera that has manual functions and features such as TTL flash hotshoe, I will suggest the C7070WZ. So far, user's feedback is very positive for the camera. I tried handling it before and like the responsiveness and the ergonomics of it. Anymore expensive and you are threading into DSLR territory in which I will suggest you take a hard look at the E-500 when it hit our shores. Just my 2cents. ![]() |
