You can use your speedlite mounted on camera, set to manual with minimum output and point the light to ceiling. (the reason is to disable pre flash function and just a enough light to trigger the studio light sensor without affecting the studio lighting set up.
or get a hotshoe adaptor (cheap way), so you can link the pc sync cable to your camera, or you can purchase a IR trigger (expensive way). When you use your camera with studio lighting, set your camera to M mode, with the highest flash sync speed. Hope this help. |

i heard that the pc sync got very high voltage output since if connect with the studio lighting, it might burn the 300D.
do i need other gear to connect the hotshoe adapter or any specific hotshoe adapter that are more safety for my 300D? since they are 3 lighting and each come with pc sync, how do i connect 3 pc sync to my 300D? |

unless you use a 20 years old studio strobe, all new modern studio light have a built in sensor, just need enable the sensor on the studio light will do. even if you need to connect a pc sync cord, one pc sync cord will be enough. |

So without connecting the pc sync, you can use your exiting speedlite as a trigger or an IR trigger to trigger the studio light. Can tell us what studio flash you have it now? |

Say you have 3 studio strobes, just connect one of the PC Sync to your hotshoe adaptor, the other 2 are slaves to the first one and will fire once it detects the flash from the first one. If you use the speedlite method, all 3 will trigger becoz they sense the flash from your speedlite. I don't like this method coz there is an extra source of light (the speedlite) which you will need to consider when composing your shot and setting up the light. Its easy to accidently introduce light from your speedlite into your shot. ![]() |

Dear Sentlon.
Using the external hot shoe adaptor of any brand should work. I am using a Nikon external hotshoe adaptor on my 300D and it works without any problem. Have peace of mind and go enjoy making great studio shots! Just be sure that you don't accidentally exceed the highest flash synchronisation speed. ![]() Thanks. ![]() |
