Hi all, I am currently a Nikon user. Recently been thinking of switching to Canon. Any current Canon user previously from the Nikon camp too. Any advise on the difference and why you choose Canon. Was switching from 1 system to another a real pain in the a**?

I'm not one of them, but I do know someone who is. Answer being quite straightforward. The Canon offers something which no other brand of DSLR does. The pain was the depreciation to bite and the hassle of selling. He is currently extremely happy with Canon, and realised his earlier bias against Canon and inhibitions because of hearsays on the system ended up to be as weighty as hot vapour.

perhaps, the more important question is why u want to switch? what's lacking that makes you want to switch to a different system?
for me, i just get the right tools (at the right price) to meet my needs. the brand doesn't matter. i would have gladly gone with Nikon if they were the first to come up with a compact DSLR <$2k. |

use a ND filter, no need to change systems.

Change I did, some compromise in my set up,as do not have a healthy cashflow for a one- -to-one replacement for my trinities, what I got are a better body, grip and potential for a wider range of configuration. Still keeping my D70 as a backup with a D50 kit lens.....noise eminating from my new body can be a distraction at times....well otherwise the dial and everything else....suit my needs.

defraction from wide angle zooms, will cause unsharpness from f11, my guess.

So can see mostly are just wishing for one, but will never buy one. Apart from a few handful. I don't see how having a FF is an advantage given the DX lenses available for Nikon.Same reason to why 20D, 350D are still APS sized sensors and EF-S glasses are produced. Same reason. |

if the camera in those 2 incidences were to be nikons, i would be using nikon now. i think both brands are the same, just a matter of which u prefer. i hope your new canon can help u produce better pictures ![]() |

i'm not sure whether any event photographer actually have the time to check the DOF b4 shooting.
unless u want to keep the aperture at F5.6 or even bigger, DOF at F11 or F16 dun have much diff with a wide angle covering event. |
