Default Leica lens - elmarit or summicron?

What are the differences between these two classes? Which is better?

ask this in the rangefinder forum where they discuss Leica M
or go to Leica user website

it does not always mean that summicron is "better" than elmarit

summicron is usually F2
elmarit is usually f2.8 and above
summilux is usually f1.4

elmarit can be "better" than summicron
e.g. the 100 F2.8 APO MACRO Elamrit for R series

when it is Leica, all 3 i.e. summicron elmarit summilux are good
