Default Canon EF 135mm f/2.0 L

Anyone use this len with 350D? This does not seem to be a popular portrait len compare to EF 85mm f/1.2 L. I am thinking of getting this. Any comment or recommandation?

Abit too long on a 1.6 FOVCF if you using it for a full body portrait.

Hello i have this lens. Very sharp and fast lens. However, with 350d, its seems too long for some of my shots.

One of the pictures i took using this lens can be found here.

Cheers.

That is where the legendary 50mm 1.4 come into the play...no distortion but with widest angle...but focus slow....

Agreed...armed with 50, 85 and 135...I would consider 135...very sharp indeed...used it for actions and portrait shots!

The 135/2 is one of Canon's top prime lenses. Image quality is exceptionally great

The 135 F2.0L is actually a much popular lens when compare to the 85 1.2L. However, I found the 135mm, with an effective 216mm focal length, way too long for day to day portrait shoot.

That's another lens which takes photos that are bad for my health. The subjects are really "popping" out of the photo.

Sigh...

35 1.4, 85 1.2, 135 f2...

Used to have a 135mm for shooting portraits, very sharp and nice colour fidelity. These days shooting more events and concerts so less opportunity to use the lenses. Still good for close-ups but my 70-200 doing most of the range already so sold off the lenses a while back. It's value for money.

I find the 50mm f1.4 considerablely fast AF, try it a CP today, the light condition are quite dim if you know what I mean. Anyway portrait is model wait for you, so slow also nvm, if talking about sports or street candid, you will need the fast ring USM.

Using the 135 f2L with a 350D at the moment. It's a bit long when shooting indoor due to the 1.6x crop (especially in a small bedroom), but still usable.

The lens really shines when shooting outdoor, the sharpness and contrast is excellent and the bokeh is very slurpy!!! Even under shades or on a cloudy day, you can expect solid results from this lens..

It's my most costly lens till now but my only regrets is that I didn't buy it earlier..

The 85f1.2L should be good too but at the price, can buy a lineup of:

24f2.8 + 50f1.4 + 85f1.8 + 135f2L

So until I build up my arsenal, the 85f1.2L will still be a distant target. I have the 85f1.8 & 50f1.8 as an alternative to shoot indoor for the time being..

The Contax Zeiss 135mm f2.8 is a very fine lens to explore too. It costs less than S$400 but a super performer...bokeh is killing too.....won't burn your pocket....

outstanding performer on a 1.6x body.

very fast autofocus. if you consider the cropping effect, it sorta becomes a 216mm f/2 lens.

people who complain that it is too long... just haven't realized its usefulness yet.

i'd say the same about the Canon 135/2.8 version too. And you know what, you get AF to boot. Also at less than 400.

To be honest, I think the main reason why the 135/2 is more popular is it's cheaper.
