its due to the lousy adapter which is not very strong, but theres alternative like what one of the bros here have done, modifying it with a raynox adapter, what i hear was better strength and adaptability

i'm using the Olympus T-17 X1.7 Teleconverter. the quality is not bad, bought second hand at B&S for 90

Same here, using the TCon17 and the WCon08 with the plastic tube. When shooting, support the camera with 1 hand the the TCon with the other!

Hey bro fuse,
thanks for mentioning abt me modification........pai seh leh, till now oso no time to test out the result.........sigh

but try out with B300 (TCON17) & WCON08, very stable. dun have to hold on to the plastic adaptor. mounting on tripod oso very stable.

distant from the leica lens to the TCON or WCON is cloder by abt 6mm
organise a outing, then we can take pic to compare........... me newbie oso lah

share, share learn as we go...... always need a guinea pig mah.... me lor.............hahahaha

all taken with at432mm X1.7 (de noise by helicon)

the quality of pic drops only slightly at full zoom, but it is also that my skill level not good enough to get the best out of my cheap birding combo yet.
this was also at 432 x1.7 mm but notice how soft the pic is(de noised after USM)

got a couple more pics, but not in PB, hard to dig out

still a noob, learning day by day.........

forget abt the TCON-14... get the TCON-17 which is optically better and gives better reach. The professional TCON-14B is another story though but it won't fit the FZ5 due to its weight.

Oh, thanks for the information...coz, my friend's uncle is willing to sell TCON-14 and WCON-08 together for $150 since he is selling his C5050 off...now since the tele is not suitable, might ask if he is willing to sell only the WCON...

yeah, get the WCON-08... it is a gem of a lens and works great with your FZ5 as it uses 55mm thread.

Hi FZ5owner,

Can show us the pics of the modified adaptor? It would be great if you can put up a simple "how-to" on your experience too!

how much does it cost to get a WCON08 from JB and where can i find one.....planning to go jb after my exams.

can FZ 5 use the TCON 17C? The alphabet "C" makes me wonder if it is still the TCON 17 u guys are talking about...

hey bro Huggie,

original adaptor, sand off 1mm so the filters, Wcon & Tcon can fit better.

after sawing off the mounting thread.

both adaptor side by side. noted the modify adaptor mounted with Raynox adaptor RT5264P.

the total cost to modify is abt SGD60 for both the Panasonis & Raynox adaptor. the rest is ur skill & time.

Cheers,

FZ5owner,

can the hood still fit into the adapter after sanding off the edge for 1mm??just that i feel like a bit wasted if the hood can no longer fit just because of the 1mm edge...
