Maybe easier to comment if you tell us what you are trying to say with this pic?
![]() Depending on how we look at it... This flower seems very soft & romantic type, thus the soft approach with shallow DOF seems to work although I would still prefer the centre portion to be a little sharper. Also, placing the flower in the middle together with the stem dead centre is not a nice composition. Tilting the stem with a certain degree with also help to break away the monotonous feel. On the other hand, if we talk about showing off details and colours of the miniature world, then this pic fails badly due to shallow DOF, dead-centre presentation and low colour saturation. Two sides of story, back to the point, that's the reason why you need to tell us what you are trying to show for this kind of pic. Standard macro pic such as insects need no introduction. Hope the above helps... just my 2 cents worth. |

Ericpooi,
Frankly, I have no story behind that photo. It is just catch my eyes when I was sorting the photos taken on Sunday at Suntec City. I know that photo is not perfect, so I like to have comments to improve it (if I encounter such situation). To me, I found it is over exposure, but it render the colour nicely soft (for my eyes). Thanks for comments, I noted on DOF and tilting the stem to make the photo more live. Regards, Arto. BTW, the flower is about 12cm edge to edge. The distance between camera and flower is about 2.5m. Can it considered as macro photography? |

Not necessary to have macro shot. this is consider as close-up shot and it fits well into this forum I think.
May be should not crop too tight but to include some other elements in the pic to make the flower stand out? Darker BG would be nice for this, I think. |
