How to use this wide angle lens Kenko KRW-05

I have this wide angle lens, it comes to two parts, one which says macro and another which says wide 0.5x.

Must the two parts be used together? I noticed if I only use the front part (wide 0.5x) the lines are curved towards the edge of the picture.

Any other possible use? Macro?
