So when that stupid politicians ask for another 30 day to solve this at the end of Sept, you all know it was a delay tactic because they know around that time the haze will die off due to the rain season coming and they already stopped burning off what plantation or land they needed. This is the tail end of the burning. No one notice that?

By the end of October, you will have Indonesia come up and tell you.. see we told you all we needed was 30 days to deal with it.
    A good photo's 45% you, 45% practice & 10% equipment. A bad photo share the same ratio.

Why the problem won't go away: http://mobile.reuters.com/article/idUSKCN0S02SX20151007

"Major palm oil companies were invited to a series of meetings at the economics ministry last week, where officials expressed concern the pledges the plantation companies made are causing big problems for smaller palm oil firms in their supply chain, the sources told Reuters."

Or better still... ask Najip to introduce that 'Rich' middle east family to Indonesia.... perhaps they are willing to donate $26,000,000 USD yearly to help Indonesia fight the fire...

Adding one Chinook and one C-130 will not do much... more like Indonesia reluctantly accepted our help due to running out of excuses to reject our offer... or maybe this time the help 'package' include $$$$$ they could.. mummm... USE...

We could conduct a combined military training program with Indonesia .... to help them look out for forest fires especially at the start of the dry season .............

If $$$ can solve the problem then it is no longer a problem........because We have got lots of it ..............

    Kidding aside.

You really STILL think this forest fires are due to dry season? You need to do abit of studying about crop rotation slash and burn, geography, study satellite photo and some detective work to see why always the same parts are burning and if it is so consistent, instead of thinking up ways to deal with it after the haze or fire start, why not use that information to set up preventive on the ground anti fire methods instead?

They are man made. Each and every time. Money will not solve it but just be putting money in their pocket and the fires will still keep coming and they will still play the victim card.

It's simplistic to think we can make this juggernaut budge one inch even with anything but extraordinary means and cooperation with other countries. Each have their own countries political and economical agendas. You want to boycott them as a little island? You don't want to buy their APP paper product like NTUC did for example? I google and this company sells their paper product globally. This was just a nice NTUC PR stunt if anything good was to come from it.

You want to boycott their palm oil? Again, they sell it globally and no one is saying no to them. So Singapore want to boycott all their oil and other exports? It is not even a 'pimple' of an impact on their economy. Anything we do is just a gesture of trying to show we are doing something about it in our own small way. If it was so effective and we have everyone on our side, we would have solve this a decade ago or more.

Serious man who are we kidding. We are like the school boy who gets picked on by a bullying gang and the rest of the school kids are just yelling for them to stop hitting you by the sideline but short of stepping up to help you. heheheh....

........"Start of dry season" ......... that's what I meant and it happens at a particular time each year. Probably also the most "ideal" time to slash and burn only during this period to avoid a backlash of having the winds carry the the smog into other parts of their country.

That's true. I want to do a photo essay on urban poverty in Singapore but I can't find a subject to do it. Too many people are well-fed, well-dressed, well-heeled, well-housed and well-carred here.

I have seen some of your past photo essays. All I can say is that you have been searching in the wrong places .....

If you find any, help them by telling the authority.

There are many institutions out there, registered and non-registered, who are prepared to help.

.......anywhere but Orchard Towers ....however I think Sion may have different view .......

Btw, Indonesia has now sought help from many countries to fight the fires. (How convenient.....considering that there is little left to burn but help is needed to irrigate the vast amount of land that has now been cleared for planting......)

So now the foreign firefighters have to help to irrigate the land with what? There is only so much they can contain in their bladders.

Use water from the sea. It will kill all. Nothing will grow eventually and nothing to burn.
