Hi Guys,
I have been using Nikon SLR for some years and been thinking of moving to a DSLR. I also have a Canon G3 so I am not new to Digital Asked CP yesterday about E1 + 14-54 + 50-200 and they just replied me with the following 1. Olympus E-1 Body w/14-54 F2.8 @S$2220.00 (free 1 GB CF card, tripod and bag) 2. 50-200 F2.8 @S$1600.00 I have heard from so many people that this is a TOP combo from Oly. What do you guys think about the price? Can I get better deal from else where ? Thanks & Best Regards

prices i believe excl GST but even u add GST, its only $2331, still very cheap.
but i also be very honest with u, the E1 is yesterday tech. u r basically buying it for its reliability, fully casted body & weather seal. if u r looking for something with more whistles, i suggest u wait another month for the E500 to launch. that E500 is cheap & full of today's tech, u get what i mean. of cos u get what u pay for lah, its a plastic body to begin with. the choice is yours but whatever u choose, u can't go wrong with the ZDs lenses. ![]() Last edited by nightpiper; 7th October 2005 at 09:18 AM. |

another thing i like to add is; the reason why people like me choose an Oly DSLR is also becos of the ease of use.
u see, i have been using film for many many years. the simplicity of juz popping in a roll of film & start shooting is in me. so i want a DSLR that i can juz pop in the memory card & start shooting with great results, not buy a DSLR, then realise pic is flat & colour is off esp cyan looking skies, then spend extra money to buy s/w to load curve, then realise the curve is not generic to everything u shoot, then spend even more money to buy a laptop so that i can change curves outdoor, if i dun buy laptop, i will shoot RAW & spend hrs at home on computer tweaking curves / colours, then later on touching up dust spots. so the ease & advantage of using an Oly is quite a natural choice for me. takes out the headache everytime. my last project i changed lenses so very often that dust is so very abundance in the mirror & the viewfinder, i tried cleaning them but never get them clean 100%, only about 60% cleaned. none of my more than 100k shots have dust on it throughout the whole project, so dun underestimate the power of the dust buster. ![]() |

I looked at the E500, liked it alot but as you said... I was thinking of a camera with great reliability like the E1, tough body, weather sealed (This is more important as SGs weather is humid and unpredictable lah!) & of course Sonic Wave Filter for dust But still E500 colours and sharpness out of the box is very impressive ![]()

It is only a small matter right? Since you still can get great output out of the box. Cheers! Arto. Last edited by Artosoft; 7th October 2005 at 11:46 AM. |
