Hi all Olympus users, i'm v impressed by the convenience of E300's anti-dust function but it seems that the only olympus is producing the same lense.
1 Their appears, it appears, to be v high, as compared to other brands. Would anyone like to comment how u survive with minimum expenditure on lense. 2 there is an offer during compex. Think there is a kit lense and a tele zoom bundle, anyone like to comment on their optical quality? 3 I'm v much attached to my m42 lense, is there anyway tt i can attach m42 lense to e300? thank you |

Yes, zuiko lenses are expensive but they are what you are paying for. quality images that are sharp, nice render of color and excellent bokeh. You have to pay a lot more for other brands to get similar properties. |

Comparing 'apple with apple', Olympus' top-end Zuiko digital lenses are no more expensive than say Canon's 'L' lenses. If anything, they tend to be cheaper. At the other end, Olympus kit lenses like the 14-45mm and 40-150mm are the best kit lenses bar none ! The only other kit lens that is better than the 14-45mm lens is also an Oly .... the 14-54mm kit lens for the E-1. To illustrate the point further, I have the Canon EF 28-135 IS and 75-300mm IS for my Canon 20D and both the Oly 14-45mm and 40-150mm kit lenses are leagues better in optical quality than these 2 Canon lenses of mine, even though the Canon lenses cost twice as much and have IS capability I love the 20D, but when I go shooting, guess which camera I pick up. What's the point of having a more expensive and argueably better camera body but have to pay for 'L' lenses to get image quality that's comparable or better than those produced by the Oly kit lenses. I'm not saying that the Oly kit lenses are of 'L' quality but that for someone (like me) who cannot afford to buy a stable of 'L' lenses, the Oly kit lenses are truely great value for money as they are far better than the equivalent consumer-grade lenses of other brands. Frankly, the dual zoom kit lens bundle for the E-300 is really great value for money. For the price of a top-end prosumer digicam, you get a full featured 8M DSLR and 2 zoom lenses of superb optical quality. For a beginner or someone who does not have specialised photography needs like macro, super-wide angle or birding, these 2 lenses would be sufficient for all intents and purposes. You probably do not need to buy another lens for a long, long time to come. ![]()

Somebody ought to tell Olympus to have their lens come with centre-pinch lens caps!!! It'll be a nice touch that will go a long way for Oly customers...
It's a pain putting on and taking off the lens cap with the lens hood on!! I have to spend a few extra dollars for generic centre pinch lens caps!!

I am not very familiar with the prices of Olys but their DSLRs are actually being sold on Dell US website. Sometimes there are occasional huge discounts for some items. I am not too sure whether any of you had bought your gear off the site.
