Hi,

I am using the canon S2 too.
I bought the lens adapter, 58mm hoya UV filter n teleconverter.
The teleconverter multiplies your focal length by 1.5x, but be aware that
u cannot zoom out all the way or it will vigenette (black shadow @ the corner)

While the plastic piece of lens adapter is a rip off @ around $50 (if i remember correctly)
Its very useful. It makes holding the camera a LOT easier, a UV filter would also protect
your lens from scratches n fingerprints (it saved mine a few times already)

The teleconverter OTOH, is not quite as useful. Unless you gonna shoot nature (like birds) forget it. In any case, the images are not very sharp, and u would need at LEAST 1/200 shutter speed for a decent shot. So far I only hv 2 shots from the teleconverter which are "keepers"

Hope this helps!

I must say your photos give me added motivation to buy the camera. Although i often takes photos using only 'P' mode with just white balance adjustments and switching off flash only. i have much to learn.

So the only lens adapter that will fit is the canon one at 59 bucks? how much is the hoya uv filter?
Where did you get your cam and for how much? any freebies?

Hi!

Got my S2 a couple months back for $850, followed by the Canon Lens Adapter set at $50, Hoya UV filter at $10, 58mm lens cap at $10, all at MS Color http://www.mscolor.com.sg/

Do check out my super newbie pix mostly taken by the S2 below.

Cheers!

i bought the hoya HMC (multicoated) filter so it costs a bit more, i think around $20.
My cam was $840 from AP.

U can try the lensmate lens adapter, i but i dunno if its available in singapore.

The S2 is a VERY capable camera, just dun expect razor sharp 100% crops....
but for web/5R prints, I think its way more than sufficient, you have 5MP to
crop.

Basically UV stands for Ultra Violet. This lens filters out the UV rays and the seconday thing it does is to protect the lerns from scratches. It is woth it.

Cheers....

Lensmate asapters not found in Singapore. I posted a thread some time ago wondering if anybody was interested in getting them from the USA as the frieght cost is US$12.00 and the 58mm adapter costs US$24.95 vs the 52mm adapter at US$22.95. The lensmate ones are silver in color though.

Maybe it is also good to ask the price first before buying even small and insignificant stuff.

$$$.... need to spend it wisely...

Seems like both Alan Photo and MS Photo are out of stock for this camera. all quoted $840 with gst and a free 256sd card.

i think best denki sells at 949 with 1G Sd card and an option to buy the printer for 169.....

Any idea where else might have stock?

Not yet as the total cost for that item + freight is US$34.95 or SG$60.00

and this is only the adapter without the hood which is separate cost.

Just to clarify, you are referring to camera shake that makes the pictures not sharp, right? I think this is a challenge in many situations of high magnification, i.e. telephoto and macro. You don't mean that the teleconverter gives you AF or other sharpness problems, right?

So, nobody has the wide converter? Haven't seen any comments on that yet.
