He started quite well but tapered off after a while. This is why I think he should be a keeper.. Much more useful than rooney.

    Quiet rumour day:

N'Golo Kanté is set to snub a move to Arsenal or Manchester United in favour of joining Chelsea.

    Almost done deal:
Henrikh Mkhitaryan is an Man Utd player, according to Borussia Dortmund... Sky sources understand the two clubs had agreed a fee of £26.3m for one of the stand-out players in the Bundesliga in recent seasons, but that the player still has to undergo a medical and discuss personal terms before a deal is finalised.

DEAL DONE: Finally. Manchester United confirm the signing of Zlatan Ibrahimović.

    confirm:
After 29yrs ... Ryan Giggs has left Manchester United.

UNITED CONFIRM EIGHT NEW ACADEMY PLAYERS

Manchester United has confirmed the names of eight new first-year scholars in the club's Academy, all of whom will be eligible to play for the Under-18 team in 2016/17.

There is already plenty of experience at that level within the group as Angel Gomes was regularly involved in Tommy Martin's side last season. The skilful no.10, who has already played in the FA Youth Cup at the age of 15, turns 16 on the last day of August and will be expected to be an influential figure as he looks to add to his three Under-18 Premier League goals so far.

Dynamic midfielder Aidan Barlow and England Under-17 livewire George Tanner also scored for the Under-18s in 2015/16. Jake Barratt and Harry Spratt were blooded too, while their fellow defender Luca Ercolani made the bench after completing his arrival from Forli in his native Italy.

Another defender, Max Dunne, is the only Manchester-born youngster in the group, although Barlow is from nearby Salford. Meanwhile, versatile Republic of Ireland youth captain Lee O'Connor joins from Waterford, where former Reds star John O'Shea was born.

First-year scholars 2016/17: Aidan Barlow, Jake Barratt, Max Dunne, Luca Ercolani, Angel Gomes, Lee O'Connor, Harry Spratt, George Tanner.

Not to a dampen on our enthusiasm but Man utd looks like another Chelsea full of mercenaries.

Sad to see the academy unable to produce more talents continously since the Fergie
Fledglings and buy our way for talents.

But anyway looks exciting in the short term for the title challenge. Let's see how the season will unfold.

Another season of rebuilding, hope it will turn out better than the other 2 managers.

Youth should be given a chance. We have seen how good Mensah, Borthwick Jackson and Rashford can be when given a chance to play.

Hopefully they will not be forgotten by Mourinho.

There are many others who are quite good. James Wilson, Pereira to name a couple.

This piece of news was sandwiched between the announcement of 2 new signings.

Job well done to the media team.

But I think Giggsy deserves more than this.
A true legend and one of the rare one club men.

    United will miss him.
With him gone, I suppose Fergie's teachings and way will be further diluted. Only one Fergie's fledgings is still at the club now.

Also hope Mourinho and Rui Faria will play the ManU brand of football.

Rather prefer them fighting convincingly and lose than play negatively and win. It's not ManU DNA.

    These 2days rumours:

    Julian Draxler (Wolfsburg)
The odds on Draxler joining United have been slashed in recent days as speculation continues to mount about the Germany international's future at Wolfsburg.

    Paul Pogba (Juventus)
the Juventus midfielder with rumours continue to circulate claiming the player could be on his way back to Old Trafford next season.

    Raphael Varane (Real Madrid)
Mourinho was the man who signed the defender at Real Madrid during his tenure at the club and is still said to be an admirer of Varane.

    Will Hughes (Derby County)
Derby's talented midfielder Will Hughes is reportedly attracting the attention of Mourinho, who wants to add more home grown players to his squad.

Manchester United in transfer talks to sign Pachuca winger Hirving Lozano, say Mexican club.
Lozano, who has scored 21 goals in 91 appearances in Liga MX, appears to be the next player on his way to Jose Mourinho's new club.
"Already there are negotiations with United - there is still nothing closed though," he said.
Meanwhile, Lozano's father-in-law insists a deal has already been completed and will be formally announced later this summer.
"It's all done," he said. "Just missing some details and then after the Olympics it becomes official."

The report also claims Mourinho will start trimming his squad once preseason starts, with Juan Mata expected to depart once the club’s deal for Borussia Dortmund playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan is confirmed.

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata could be close to joining Everton.

Man United striker Ashley Fletcher has rejected the club's offer of a new contract and will undergo a medical at West Ham.

Seems like United is determined to splash the cash. Show off the fruits of Ed Woodward's labour especially since that's where his specialty lies. Else he has nothing much to show in the transfer market to-date. Always tio out-manoeuvred.

Today is all about José Mourinho who have been officially unveiled as Manchester United manager.

    extract of his news interview/conference:

Mourinho: Man Utd is a Champions League club. We have to make sure in July 2017 that this club is where it belongs.

"I want specialists, not multi-functional players. When we get the fourth (signing) I can breathe." - José Mourinho

José Mourinho: "How many [signings] do we have?"
Press officer: "Two at the moment."
    Jose: "We have three."

"The reality is it's not my responsibility that he's not in the club. The job he wanted, the club gave me!" Jose on Giggs.

Wayne Rooney will not play in midfield for Manchester United, Jose Mourinho

This is where I want to be"- Jose Mourinho

The aim for this season? "I want to be aggressive - we want to win," Jose Mourinho tells reporters.

José hints he'll make one further signing after Mkhitaryan and then allow the players to prove themselves before making any more.

Mourinho: "There are some managers the last time they won a title was 10 years ago. Some never have. The last time I did was a year ago."

Mourinho: "If I have something to prove, imagine the others!"

J.Mourinho on aim for season: "It depends on the way you want to look at it, I was never good hiding behind words or philosophies"

José on style of play, "I want everything, I want to win well, I want to play youngsters, I want the fans behind us..."

"We are not going to get the fourth on the 31st August, no way. (After 4 signings) Then we are okay. The window is still open." José

"I have to say that I'm the manager of the biggest club in the UK. I'm going to focus on us!" - Jose Mourinho on rivalries
