Anyone regrets buying FZ5 or FZ20? I'm looking at either FZ5, FZ20 or maybe FZ30. I would like to know this fact and the reason before I takes the plunge.

No regret, I bought a FZ5 for around $630 and bring for silk road trip. It survived my abuse, and the photos turn out sharp and well. Especially with it Mega OIS function, which I can shoot on the tour bus without shaking, quite compact (compare to DSLR) and prosumer manual setting control (except without manual focus) and good macro (12x zoom with 1 meter).
Although now I have upgraded to KM 5D, I still miss it sometime, for it 12x zoom ability (easier to do some street candid shoot, compare to very obvious DSLR zoom lens), compactness and no need for lens changing or facing sensor dust problem. The only drawback is the high noise at high ISO, a bit soft at 12x zoom, and no external flash hotshoe.

First and foremost the ois is no miracle drug
it help to prevent excessive shake but it nothing like the advert show in tv where they skate and shoot at the same time for 12x zoom and ois the fz5 is definitely a better buy compared to it pricer canon and sony counterparts for pic quality wise the fz5 is already as good as it bigger siblings...buy the fz20/30 if u need the extra functions...else it a waste of money

Don't regret getting the FZ-20 at all... haha! Powerful camera so far! Yeah... Of course there're more functions one could wish for but hey, there's no perfect camera is there? If there were, there's no more market for camera makers already.
If u don't mind the size & the supposed noise problems, go for the FZ30... It's got high speed focusing, which I heard is the same as FZ5's (which is very fast), higher number of pixels on the LCD & EVF, twistable LCD, manual zoom (nice addition especially for taking video)... haha! These are the main upgrades from FZ20 that I drool over... haha!

No regrets getting my FZ3 and later upgrading to the FZ20. Only regretted selling the FZ20 when it has to make way for a big + small combo, ie. DSLR + compact prosumer. $$$ no enough.
![]() To me, the greatest thing about the FZ series is the fantastic quality of the super zoom lens. |

No regrets buying my FZ20... I love it to bits!
I think it's a great cam... good pictures... and great zoom lens... all at an excellent price! And there's room for add-ons... flash, filters, teleconverters, etc. |

no complaints, fz20 is worth the money spent.
i have never try fz5 before but i think one of the advantage fz20 have over fz5 is the hotshoe for ext. flash (which i wanted very much during low light conditions). the only shortcoming for the fz20 you might want to take note is that the lcd/e.viewfinder is no good during low light condition, can't really see at times. if there are ways to overcome this problem, then it will be an ideal case. |

It's loads of features, manual overrides, speedy operations and technologies should be able to satify me for more than ten yrs. Prefer fz5 or fz30 for faster focusing.

Well, let me add in my pile of share:
I used to use FZ10, then one leg goes into the Dark side. Guess what...I still have my FZ10, and when I travel, I packed my D70 together with my FZ10 in my mini-tracker bag. Does that tell you anything? ![]() |
