Hi dragos, maybe you can contact TMC to help u source for 1DIIN in Japan. He is based in Japan now (studies), look at Consumers' Corner sub forums for more info. Think it is much cheaper there, abt SGD 7k+. However u also have to factor in shipping and GST charges.

it is covered under international warranty but only 6 mths

how do you know if a camera is covered by local warranty or international warranty? E.g if i buy a sigma lens from bhphoto.com, is there still warranty here in Singapore?
What about cameras ordered from overseas? Is the issue of warranty different when ordering from USA or Japan?

All canon Digital SLR has no international warranty. Not even 6 months.

Lenses on the other hand will have one year international warranty. Make sure you buy from authorised dealer in the foreign country and keep the reciept.

Warranty
All Canon consumer digital cameras come with either one year local carry-in warranty or six months international warranty. All Canon digital SLR (Single Lens Reflex) cameras come with one local carry-in warranty.

you may check at LORDS Camera at Lucky plaza, saw it 1 set yesterday.

they pricing so far so good.

You can check with AP also, saw one set on display, but not sure of their price...(and hopefully you get good service)
