Hi guys,
Was reading a magazine when I came across a tiny article revealing the Horseman LD, LF style camera with a Canon/Nikon DSLR as a back... Just wondering if it's available in Singapore and how much would one of these babies cost... Thanks! Ervine |

I just did a Google search, saw a the Horseman LD, this is noting new, just only have a lens board and a back that can mount the modern DSLR lens and bodies, and enable them to use the bellow functions. Btw, many other view cameras also able to adapt using 120 or 35mm bodies.
Please bear in mind that you can’t focus to infinity if you using an existing wide-angle lens with this set up. So you can’t do an architectural or interior shot with this, but can use this for tabletop still life or product shots. How about using large format wide-angle lens? Yes, you can focus at infinity with large format lens, but the widest wide-angle lens for large format is 45mm and Horseman recommend to use 90mm and above for this camera. Another looks very nice but with limited use camera. |

Also, why can't you focus to infinity? Confused... |

most 4x5 cameras are just a light tight bellows with a lens board in front to hold the lens and a holder behind to hold the film.
Just fabricate a simple mount for the camera of your choice onto a plan metal plate that is sized to fit the 4x5 camera of your choice and thats it . You cannot focus to infinity with the 35mm lens cause they will be mounted further from the film plan then the designer intended the lens to be ... so no infinity focus |

but considering the size of the CCD on a 35mm DSLR.. won't the crop factor be insane if I use LF lens? Last edited by enivre; 28th September 2005 at 12:34 AM. |

thats how it works in LF
heres a cheap ( almost free ) solution You can use the rear shift up down / left right to take multiple images then go back and stitch together walah .... full frame coverage : ) |

Actually there even 28mm lens and others up to 120mm design to be use on large format camera for these purposes. The image circle of these lens will only fit digital back for 645 or smaller sensors. These optics are very expensive. As they have more resolution power then the normal large format lenes. Here are some schneider stuff of these quality http://www.schneideroptics.com/photo...l_photography/

Errr
You can say that But they are also design for other digital sensor like medium digital back on the large format. Well it alot cheaper to put a canon 1 DS DSLR on a large format then buy a high end digital backs. I guess each got it own merits ![]() |
