Here's a link to a page full of photos taken using the LOMO LC-A camera. Click on the link that has the word 'lomo lc-a' in it.
-> http://webby.sarang.net/Photo/list.php <- I think there are many interesting and nice shots in this chap's photo album. I particularly like this one. Take a look at the 11th picture on this page -> http://webby.sarang.net/Photo/list.php?mode=view&no=120 <- Or the photos at this page -> http://webby.sarang.net/Photo/list.php?mode=view&no=49 <- I am still exploring some of his many links. Can't wait for my LOMO LC-A to arrive! |

Wanted to buy from lomojoe and from another website for cheaper but they seem to be out of stock. |

If it is, looks like we bought from the same seller. I've sent him my payment by BidPay and since this is my first purchase, I am not sure if he will send the goods upon receipt of the confirmation email from BidPay or only when he recieves the actual money order. I have tried emailing him but he has not replied yet. Do you have any idea? Also, I notice that unlike the other lc-a on auction on ebay, this packaging is blue in colour while the rest are red. I read from a warning from lomojoe's website (scams to watch out for) to be wary of sellers claiming their camera is new. "If the camera says "Made in USSR" on the front and/or "CCCP" on the back inside a pentagon it obviously dates back to the Soviet Union. (a guy was selling one of these as new on eBay - I'm serious!) " Do you have any clue? |

That's my friend's nick actually..
.. he's one helluva experienced buyer/seller.. hahaa.. Anyway I'll drop my friend a line or two, to ask some questions with this guy before making the payment. My friend has this policy whereby he will not make any payment if he cannot establish any whatsoever contact with the seller.. The bid just ended at 5.30pm today, so will see how it goes.. But this seller seems like of good reputation and he has sold some lomos before in ebay.. keepin our fingers crossed then... ![]() |

I did a few readings on the LOMO LC-A before I wanted to get it and in short, the LOMOGRAPHY Society are a bunch of marketing student from Austria who simply took the Lomo Brand camera, and started overhyping it as a 'shooting from the hip' kinda camera. I initially had wanted to buy the SuperSampler (was standing at page one kinokuniya for 1/2 hour) but realised it was actually made in China. Thus, it doesn't give the same kinda colour saturation and richness as the Lomo LC-A. As for the LC-A, the one you get in Singapore marketed by the lomogprahy society and costs so much more than what you can get original and striaght from their factory in Russia. Here's a little snippet from lomojoe's website. "I guess we're all supposed to think it's a happy club for friendly photographers. It's a little more than that. The Lomographic Society is an Austrian based business begun by a couple of students who first came across the Lomo LC-A in a Prague camera shop. They shouldn't be confused with the actual Lomo factory in St. Petersburg, Russia which employs something like 9000 workers and produces all kinds of quality optics ranging from laboratory microscopes to night vision devices. Their agreement with the Lomo factory makes the Lomographic Society the major international distributor and marketer of the Lomo LC-A. In return for big orders to the factory they received an exclusive export contract for the camera. What this means is that if you or I walk into the Lomo factory and try to order a shipment to send to America, the management will have to refer us to the guys in Austria. While the Lomographic Society sells all Lomos abroad they don't have much of anything to do with the domestic sale of Lomos in Russia (and if they actually do control it, the management at Lomo seems to be ignoring them and distributing to the domestic market anyway). What difference does this make? Well a Lomo that you purchase from the Lomographic Society comes all dressed up with a little Lomo booklet (in German) and a membership to their Lomo club. A Lomo purchased in Russia doesn't come with the extra hype. It also will cost you at minimum $50-$70 less than a Lomographic Society Lomo (and that would be at the most expensive of Moscow shops!). If you were wondering why you've seen much cheaper Lomos for sale on other websites and web auctions - these are Lomos that are coming to you through the domestic market. No big operations - just guys like me heading to the local camera shop and then sticking a Lomo in the mail for you." If money were nothing to me, I would have gotten the $330 from Page One. But I am just a poor student. :P Last edited by elutris; 18th October 2002 at 10:51 AM. |

Amazing.. $330 for crap. The 2 founders must've been business or marketing students.
